Campus Resources and Contacts
We strongly encourage contacting FE&P, H&D, faculty, and other staff before submitting applications. The following contacts may be useful in the design and/or implementation of RESET proposals.
- David McDonald (david.mcdonald@rice.edu), Housing and Dining. David would be the first contact for most energy projects in the residential colleges.
- Christina Hughes (cmh6@rice.edu), undergraduate, lead Eco-Rep. Christina can help to connect student-generated projects in the residential colleges with H&D’s green funds.
- Mark Gardner (mrg@rice.edu), Energy Analyst, Facilities Engineering and Planning. Mark can provide data for energy consumption for most buildings on campus.
- Richard Johnson (rrj@rice.edu), Director of Sustainability, Facilities Engineering and Planning. Richard can assist with data collection and can help with general questions or to identify opportunities for cost-sharing with other campus departments/projects.
- Phillip Bedient (bedient@rice.edu), Herman Brown Professor of Engineering in the Dept of Civil and Environmental Engineering and director of SSPEED center. He may be a useful contact in projects involving water and hydrology.
- Kyriacos Zygourakis (kyzy@rice.edu), Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. Good resource for projects concerning energy.
- Pedro Alvarez (alvarez@rice.edu), Professor and Department Chair of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Good resource for environmental issues and analysis.
